Whatever your skillset, we invite you to lend a hand for as little or as much time as you can spare, and we promise you’ll gain more than you give. Most of our volunteers are parents or have been parents of young people who have progressed through 4th Bramhall.

Adult volunteers are the backbone of Scouts, dedicating their time, skills, and passion to support and guide young people on their scouting journey. These volunteers come from diverse backgrounds, bringing a wealth of experience, expertise, and interests to the scouting community.

As leaders, trainers, administrators, trustees, or mentors, adult volunteers create safe, inclusive, and enjoyable scouting experiences for young people. They provide opportunities for personal growth, adventure, and learning, fostering values such as leadership, teamwork, resilience, and respect.

Through their commitment and dedication, adult volunteers empower young people to develop self-confidence, acquire new skills, and make lasting memories. Their support and enthusiasm significantly impact young people’s lives, helping them become active, responsible, and engaged members of their communities.

Volunteering with Young People

You can volunteer directly with young people by helping run a section (Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers) at a given scout group. Typically this involves a couple of hours per week running the weekly group meeting and the occasional weekend events like camps. Scouts like to take a flexible approach to volunteering, even if you can’t make every meeting of event you can still be a leader and your help will always be appreciated.

Support Roles

There are a range of different support roles, which often don’t involve directly volunteering with young people. For example, this could involve helping manage a groups admin and finances, sharing a specialist skill or fundraising. These behind the scenes roles are crucial to the smooth running of any group and any support you provided would be appreciated.
